I always associate the Greenville Pickens Speedway program with constructing a puzzle without a box lid. Truly that's what putting together the wealth of material each week seems like. I have been constructing a 32 to 36 page program for the past seven years every week of the race season in only a few days. It's a hectic schedule but a challenge I handle quite easily today. Each Monday and Tuesday, the coordinator of the Greenville Pickens Speedway sends me several e-mails of content to place in the program. I take all the photos and stories that he sends, and I figure out where they need to go. I then send a proof back to him for photograph captions and any minor changes. The book is then sent to production after the final content has been submitted. A total of 200 or more programs are printed each week to be ready for the next race night on Saturday. Some of the ads are submitted from other designers, but many of them I construct at the beginning of the race season from e-mails, sketches, and phone conversations. Though the project may seem overwhelming, I am proud to say that I have never missed a deadline in the past seven years. (Click on above image or here to view a pdf of the program.)
